Buch Daniel - Test

Dan 1,7 datiert Daniels Erlebnisse und Visionen in die Zeit des israelitischen Exils in Babylon. Er sei zusammen mit Hananja, Mischaël und Asjra dorthin verschleppt worden und dann zum Minister unter den babylonischen Königen Nebukadnezar II. und Belsazar sowie Darius von Medien aufgestiegen. Er habe dort den Namen Beltschazar getragen.

In der historisch-kritischen Bibelforschung werden diese Angaben als legendarisch beurteilt. Sie sollten Daniels später berichtete Visionen als Prophezeiungen darstellen, seien aber Vaticinia ex eventu. Im Buch beschriebene Details beziehen sich auf Vorgänge aus der Makkabäerzeit, als die Fremdherrschaft der Seleukiden das jüdische Volk bedrohte. Deshalb wird angenommen, dass das Buch in dieser Zeit entstand und bald nach den siegreichen ersten Aufständen gegen Antiochos IV. fertig gestellt und - eventuell mehrfach - überarbeitet wurde. Für diese Spätdatierung spricht auch, dass das Buch im Judentum lange umstritten blieb und nicht zu den „Propheten" (Neviim), sondern zu den späteren und theologisch weniger bedeutenden „Schriften" (Ketubim) gezählt wurde.
